The Metallurgical Coal Department, as the Japan base of the Mitsubishi Corporation RtM Group, provides agency services for import of metallurgical coal from Australia, Canada, the US, China and elsewhere to blast furnace steelmakers and coking coal companies in Japan, and sells thermal coal from Indonesia and the US for the electric power generation operations of Japanese steelmakers.

It is helping to ensure customers have a long-term stable supply of raw materials, while meeting their increasingly diverse and high-level needs by providing world market information drawing on the Mitsubishi Corporation RtM Group global network, and by making use of the futures functions in the RtM Group headquarters.
