Ferrous Raw Materials 
Division

Consisting of the Metallurgical Coal Department, Iron Ore Department, Stainless Steel Raw Materials Department, Rare Metals Department, and Battery & Electronic Materials Business Development Office, this division serves the Japanese steelmaking and coke industries by importing metallurgical coal, iron ore, and thermal coal (coal for electric power generation), as well as selling ferronickel, ferrochrome and other ferroalloys used in stainless steel and special steel.

Metallurgical Coal Department

The Metallurgical Coal Department provides coking coal import agency services to Japanese steel companies and coking coal companies, and also sells thermal coal to steel companies and electric power companies in Japan.

Iron Ore Department

The Iron Ore Department provides iron ore import agency services to Japanese steel companies, and sells iron ore from around the world to steel companies in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Stainless Steel Raw Materials Department

The Stainless Steel Raw Materials Department handles nickel ore, ferronickel, ferrochrome and other stainless steel additives, in addition to steelmaking auxiliary materials such as molybdenum and vanadium. These materials are procured from excellent suppliers in Japan and overseas, and supplied reliably to steel companies in Japan and the rest of Asia.

Rare Metals Department

The Rare Metals Department handles products used as raw materials in permanent magnets, carbide tools, electronic materials, refractories, and catalysts. The main products include rare earths, tungsten, tantalum, neodymium, and zirconium minerals such as baddeleyite.

Battery & Electronic Materials Business Development Office

The Battery & Electronics Materials Business Development Office handles products used as raw materials in rechargeable batteries, such as nickel, cobalt, and lithium. It is also involved in new project development aimed at ensuring a stable supply of raw materials into the future.

Thermal Coal Division

The department handles thermal coal, used mainly as fuel for electric power generation. Taking maximum advantage of the global networks of the RtM Group and Mitsubishi Corporation, it provides a wide range of services to ensure a stable supply of products to Japanese customers.

Thermal Coal Department

Besides providing Japanese customers with a stable supply of competitively priced thermal coal procured from around the world, the department provides services meeting the increasingly diverse and advanced needs of customers. It also surveys worldwide supply and demand of thermal coal, offers price hedge functions making use of derivatives, performs delivery operations on consignment, and in other ways meets diverse needs of customers.

Base Metals and Aluminium
Division

Five departments make up this division, the Base Metals Department, the Aluminium Metals Department, the Aluminium Materials Department, the Automotive New Materials Business Development Office, and the Risk Control and Operations Office. The division deals in raw materials such as copper concentrates, zinc ores, and lead ores; refined ingots including copper, aluminium, tin, lead, zinc, and nickel; and rolled aluminium products. Through the global network of the RtM Group, raw materials and products are supplied reliably, meeting the needs of customers throughout the world.

Base Metals Department

The Base Metal Department handles raw material concentrates of copper, lead, zinc and other metals, ingots of copper, lead, zinc, tin, and the like, and copper products such as copper wire rods.

Aluminium, Tin, Lead, Zinc and Nickel
Department

The Aluminium Metals Department handles aluminium virgin metal, an LME listed product, as well as ingots of various aluminium alloys to meet needs from a diverse range of customers. Stable procurement is achieved through the global network of the Mitsubishi Corporation RtM Group and Mitsubishi Corporation, and we meet a variety of customer needs thanks to a staff well-versed in the market, capable of providing services such as aluminium price hedging functions, and arrangement of transport to the customer's demand location.

Aluminium Materials Department

The Aluminium Materials Department mainly handles rolled and extruded aluminium products for automotive radiators, condensers, and evaporators, and cast aluminium products used as aircraft materials. Drawing on the knowledge and expertise accumulated over many years of experience, the department is able to meet high-level and diverse needs of customers.

Automotive New Materials Business Development Office

The Automotive New Materials Business Development Office handles automotive body materials contributing to lighter vehicle weight, a trend that is proceeding globally, as well as new materials for aircraft. The department proposes various solutions to customers, such as new project development in line with the growing use of aluminium in automobiles to comply with tougher environmental regulations.

Risk Control and Operations Office

The Risk Control and Operations Office is an organization that supports the Base Metals and Aluminium Division and the Precious Metals Department in their high added value trading matched to diverse customer needs, by providing cross-organizational risk management services and delivery services.

Precious Metals Department

The Precious Metals Department, with main bases in Singapore, Tokyo, New York, London, and Shanghai, provides a stable supply of precious metals all over the world as its core business. Moreover, it provides a wide range of functions, including diverse trading forms matched to customer needs such as those making use of derivatives, and the latest market information drawing on a global network.
